LGV C (Class 2) Driver Training

About the licence

LGV C is a rigid vehicle that exceeds 7.5tonne in gross weight. There is no weight restriction on this category – providing the vehicle is rigid based (i.e. the cab does not detach from the trailer) it can be driven on a category C licence. You are able to sit your category C test at the age of 18, providing that you already hold a category B (car) driving licence. You do not need to have held your licence for a certain period of time.

Entry requirements

Prior to practical training, you will need to: complete a medical assessment in order to apply for your provisional licence pass the relevant LGV theory tests We are able to arrange these elements for you as part of our LGV Starter Pack.

The Course

Our LGV C (Class 2) driver training course is completed on a 1-to-1 basis over 2 full days, returning for your practical test on the third and final day. We use fully automatic vehicles for training purposes. By passing in a vehicle with an automatic transmission, you will still be issued a full manual LGV entitlement. Our vehicles have been specified by us from new to ensure your driver training is as straight forward as possible. The practical driving test is made up of two parts: Module 3A: an ‘S shaped’ reverse exercise into a loading bay You will practice this exercise at our private test facility throughout your driver training course. When you feel ready, our in-house delegated assessor will conduct and sign-off this part of the test. Module 3B: a 60 minute on-the-road drive This will be conducted by a DVSA driving examiner at the end of your practical training course.
